In 2023, Vietnam was the seventh-largest source of imports to the United States, with an import value of $114.4 billion. This underscores Vietnam's growing economic influence and successful integration into global trade networks. Vietnamese-American businesses have been pivotal in this dynamic, frequently ordering agricultural produce and meat from Vietnam, boosting bilateral trade.

California, the most populous state in the U.S. with 39.03 million residents in 2022, is a major hub for the Vietnamese American community. The state’s diverse demographic, where no single ethnicity holds a majority, includes approximately 1.2 million Vietnamese immigrants, making it the state with the largest Vietnamese population in the U.S. This community is concentrated in key metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, and San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward.
